The Ice is Melting
The Athabasca Glacier, located in the Canadian Rockies, is receding at a rate of about 16 feet per year. Highly accessible, it is one of the most visited glaciers in North America. Busses bring scores of tourists out to the glacier’s edge where they board specially designed snow coaches that bring them to the surface. Once there, they are free to wander about the surface for a short while. The photos for this project were recently taken over the space of a few hours on one of those trips.
